I know the norm these days is to keep your calendar on your phone or computer, but I guess I’m kind of a planner nerd. I LOVE filling out a real-life paper planner by hand, and being able to see my whole schedule on a page. In an age of screens, my mind feels less distracted when I can use something real and tangible.
If you are like me, and get excited about having a brand new, beautiful planner in front of you, I want to show you my simple, minimalist planner this year (it’s also the most-purchased item on our gift guides)!
Get ready for this, because this year I decided to do something crazy. I purchased a monthly planner instead of a “regular” planner with months and weekly pages. BUT I got some awesome accessories to go along with it that make it just as functional (or more, really) than many weekly planners out there.
The Erin Condren Deluxe Monthly Planner
If you want to see for yourself what’s inside, check out this unboxing video (even the packaging is pretty)!
You can also see this planner here on the Erin Condren site: Erin Condren Deluxe Monthly Planner.
What Makes this a Minimalist Planner?
Minimalism is about owning what you use and love, so the monthly option really was perfect for me! I found that when I purchased a regular planner in the past, I would skip weeks (or months) at a time of the daily pages, but I always filled out my schedule on the monthly pages. This planner does not have daily or weekly pages at all (which made me a little hesitant at first). Now that I’ve seen it, along with the accessories, I think it will work out great!
Customize Your Own Cover
So … this was probably the part that drew me to these planners in the first place. It is so fun to customize and design your own cover, change the colors, and even put your name or favorite quote on it!
But What’s Inside?
Here are the major features of the Erin Condren Deluxe Monthly Planner:
- Dreams and Plans Page
- Full-spread Monthly Calendars
- Priorities Page for each month
- Lots of lined note pages
- Planning for 2019 page
My Favorite Part: Reusable Accessories!
These accessories are used with wet erase markers, so you can wipe them off and use again and again. You can even use them for next year’s planner!
Here are the accessories I chose to purchase with my planner (see the link at the bottom for more options):
- Wet Erase Markers
- Snap-in Monthly Bill-Tracker Dashboard
- Snap-in To-do List Dashboard
- Snap-in Wellness Dashboard
There are tons of other accessories available, so you can pick the ones you like for your perfect planner! Click to see more accessories here, including the Meal-Planning Dashboard shown below, extra stickers, carrying bags, and more!
I really love this planner, and didn’t find a lot of problems that I can’t deal with, but here are a couple things to note:
1. Because there are no weekly pages, there is not a space to create an hour-by-hour schedule of each day. If your schedule changes a lot and you need somewhere to record it, you may want something with daily or weekly pages (or you could always put a daily schedule in your phone and use this for your broad overview).
The Erin Condren LifePlanner and Hardbound LifePlanner both include weekly pages. The regular LifePlanner has three different options for the layout of your pages (depending on if you like to schedule by the hour, in blocks, or more-open-ended. The Hardbound LifePlanner comes in a smaller size as well. (Yay for more customizing)!
2. One more possible downside to the Deluxe Monthly Planner is it is a little bulky with the large coil binding. If you want something more compact, you might want to check out their regular Monthly Planner or Hardbound LifePlanner.
Have a great year!
I hope it helped to see inside this planner. I know a planner can be a difficult thing to purchase online when you can’t really see inside it. If you order your own, I hope you love it as much as I do.
